We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Security Engineer to support our client in the financial services sector. This 8-month fixed-term role is ideal for someone early in their cybersecurity career, looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, regulated environment. You'll be working alongside experienced security professionals, contributing to the protection of critical systems and data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining security tools (SIEM, endpoint protection, firewalls, etc.)
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation tracking
  • Support in the investigation of security alerts and incidents
  • Help document security processes, procedures, and technical reports
  • Assist with identity and access management reviews and onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Work closely with IT and compliance teams to ensure alignment with security policies
  • Stay up to date on the latest cybersecurity trends and threats

Skills & Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in IT or security-related roles (internships or placement considered)
  • Basic understanding of security principles, networking, and common vulnerabilities
  • Familiarity with tools like SIEM, antivirus, vulnerability scanners, etc.
  • Exposure to Windows and/or Linux system administration is a plus
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, SSCP, or similar) are a bonus
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments is a plus
