Our client, a leading PLC, is seeking a Senior Group Reporting Accountant to join their Group Finance team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting financial reporting, accounting advisory, and compliance across multiple business functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with technical accounting queries, financial reporting, and process improvements while mentoring junior team members.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Group accounting manual under US GAAP and IFRS.
- Support the quarterly external reporting process, including financial statement notes and disclosure checklists.
- Provide guidance and resolve accounting queries across finance, tax, treasury, and internal audit teams.
- Mentor and coach junior team members to support their professional development.
- Assess accounting implications of transactions and provide practical solutions.
- Partner with key business functions, including finance, sustainability, strategy, and procurement teams.
- Assist newly acquired businesses in aligning with US GAAP, IFRS, and internal accounting policies.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency in financial reporting and advisory services.
- Present accounting matters to finance teams and key stakeholders across the organisation.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in financial accounting and reporting.
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with a strong financial reporting background.
- Expertise in US GAAP accounting standards (IFRS knowledge is advantageous).
- Prior experience working with a US-listed company reporting under US GAAP is beneficial.
- Exposure to business combinations, financial instruments, consolidation, and divestment accounting is an advantage.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Desirable Skills:
- Ability to apply practical solutions to complex accounting issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting matters clearly.
- Experience in financial reporting systems and process automation is beneficial.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- US CPA qualification preferred, though other accounting certifications are considered.
